Abstract

• In August 2022, 11 of the 90 Indonesian cities having CPI data experienced inflation, while 79 experienced deflation.

• Ambon City saw inflation of 0.82 percent with a CPI of 114.65 while Tual City saw deflation of 0.91 percent with a CPI of 113.84.

• Ambon had the highest inflation rate (0.82 percent), with a CPI of 114.65; Bekasi had the lowest inflation rate (0.12 percent), with a CPI of 113.74; Tanjung Pandan had the highest deflation rate (1.65 percent), with a CPI of 115.34; and Depok and Kendari had the lowest deflation rates (0.01 percent and 0.01 percent, respectively, with a CPI of 113.29 and 111.01.

• In August 2022, Tual City's monthly inflation was rated 73rd out of 90 CPI Cities in Indonesia (Ambon City was ranked first), its calendar year inflation was ranked 81st (Ambon City was 34th), and its overall ranking was 82nd (Ambon City is ranked 14th).

• There was deflation as a result of falling price indices across a number of spending categories. The food, beverage, and tobacco sector experienced the highest deflation, at 3.16 percent and a CPI of 119.71.

• There are 84 different categories of goods and services that see price fluctuations, with food, drink, and tobacco making up the majority of those. 33 different categories of products and services saw price drops, with baronang fish, kale, tomatoes, mustard greens, garlic, cooking oil, tuna/komu, layang fish/momar, white snapper/sakuda, and cooking oil experiencing the biggest drops in cost. These products also contributed the most to the deflation that occurred in Tual City this month.

• In the meantime, prices rose for 51 different products and services in August 2022, with grilled fish, air travel, home gasoline, enbal gepe, filtered kretek cigarettes, anchovies, martabak, long beans, cassava, and white cigarettes seeing the biggest rises.
